Dr. Petia Kremen has been in medical practice for over 10 years. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative and Holistic Medicine.
Dr. Kremen began her journey in the practice of integrative and holistic medicine many years ago. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree (MD) from the University of Varna, Bulgaria. After practicing for several years, Dr. Kremen moved to London to further study advanced techniques in Western Medicine. She then traveled to California, where after various research projects, including alternative therapies at Stanford University and working for innovative firm Intuitive Surgical. Afterwards, Dr. Kremen was accepted for her postgraduate training at UCLA, Kern Medical Center. Dr. Kremen then completed a rigorous internal medicine residency, earning the coveted "Excellence in Medicine" award and a second Doctor of Medicine Degree (MD) degree.
She has worked in diverse health environments including a mega HMO, private hospitals, county hospitals, student health, urgent care and other outpatient settings, garnishing a broad set of experiences treating challenging cases. Dr. Kremen has found conventional Western medicine helpful in those situations involving advanced degree of dysfunction of the organism; however it gives little or no help in preventing any of these conditions. This dichotomy brought her on the path of studying and applying integrative and holistic medicine. Dr. Kremen sees the person as a whole and strongly believes that "a good physician treats the disease, but the great one the patient." She applies to her practice of medicine a rich experience in modalities such as Functional Medicine, Allopathic Medicine, Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine, Body-Mind Healing, HeartMath, Energy Medicine, and Bach Flower Essence.

What to expect:

- Perhaps you have experienced being examined by your physician, having blood tests done, other diagnostic tests taken, only for your doctor to tell you that "all tests are normal". Yet, both you and your doctor know that you are sick. Unfortunately this experience is all too common. Most of us, as physicians, are trained to look only in specific places for answers, using all familiar labs or diagnostic tests. Many causes of illness can not be found in these places. The usual tests do not look for hidden infections, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, metabolic imbalances, environmental toxins. Dr. Kremen will use some of these tests to prevent illness and recover from chronic and difficult to treat conditions such as inflammatory disorders, autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, mood disorders. She also focuses on prevention of diabetes, heart disease, hormone imbalances, digestive diseases.
- Prior to the visit Dr. Kremen will review your medical history (by completing detailed questionnaires focused on all aspects of your health and current life style) and any available medical records.
- Initial consultation is in person with Dr. Kremen and it is about 2 hours. It includes listening to your complete story, physical exam, review of gathered information, initiation of treatment plan and if need additional tests will be ordered. Your treatment plan will be discussed with you and e-mailed after the visit.
- Follow up visits in person and in some cases via Skype are 60 – 90 minutes. Number of follow up visits depends on each unique situation.
- You can expect to have access to Dr. Kremen's cell phone, e-mail and Skype.
- Consultations are by appointment only.
INSURANCE:
Monarda Integrative Medicine will be out of network for any insurance, which simply means that you can submit a superbill (provided by Monarda Integrative Medicine) to your insurance for some reimbursement or use your Flexible Spending Account.
Payment is expected at time of services received by check/cash.
